Dear Londonderry Community,
Last week, one of our students, third grader, Bella Tucker, age 8, came down with a serious infection on Easter Sunday and remained in a coma for five days. This was a very difficult and trying time for her family. Though Bella still has many challenges ahead of her, we are happy to report that she is expected to survive. She will be facing a long hospital stay and extended rehabilitation.
Bella’s parents and stepfather have been by her side at Boston’s Children’s Hospital since April 5. Bella’s mother will remain with her during her extended recovery. Her stepfather plans to return to work once he can find care for Bella’s three brothers and one sister. Unfortunately, both Bella’s mother and stepfather have jobs whereby they do not receive an income when they do not work. When Bella returns home, the house will need some modifications. While they have health insurance, the inability to earn an income has made a major impact on their finances.
