The overriding importance of Memorial Day
A record setting 1,500 came out this morning for the 2007 Memorial Day Parade. The American Legion participation appeared greater than we can remember in the last 20 years, but we have no conformation of that.
Captain Matt Bazarian was invited by the Legion to speak to the community, his presentation left many with a feeling of pride and reverence for family, friends and neighbors that have served our country. Captain Bazarian graduated from the United States Naval Academy and entered active duty in 1998. Serving in the High Command in Kuwait in the months leading up to and following the Iraqi Freedom campaign. Returning to the United States for Business School at Dartmouth he also continued to serve in Bravo Company, based out of the Londonderry Reserve Center. After training many troops on operations in Iraq, he left for Fallujah in March of 2005 returning in October of 2005.
