National Knitting Day
Saturday, June 12th, members of the St. Peters knitting group, Purls of Wisdom, celebrated National Knit in Public Day. Sitting at the front of the common under the tress working hard on prayer shawls, hats, and blankets were Bety Gilkinson, Ann Doten, Denise Gossen, Sally Nelson, and Denny Bolis. The group meets the first Saturday of the month at St. Peter’s Church from 9 am – 12. The group adopts a local organization in need and all of the items they knit are donated. They have assisted schools, our veterans, cancer patients, and premature babies. The items that the ladies were working on will be donated to the Soup Kitchen in Derry. Anyone is welcome to join the organization. Ann Doten replied, “This is a great way to meet fellow knitters. No kids, dogs or spouses. We just talk, knit and laugh.”
