In August 1827, the first post office was established on High Range Road under Postmaster Ebenezer Whittier. During the following years, the post office moved and changed postmasters frequently. Here, a mail truck sits outside of the Stonehenge Homestead in the early 1900's.

    Train Arriving in North Londonderry

This image shows the landscape of North Londonderry in the early 1900's. This was the industrial and business hub of town at the time. The Boston and Maine (B & M) train waits at the Mammoth Road Crossing. The cluster of three late-Victorian houses to the right near the windmill formed part of the community that blossomed there. These houses are still standing today. Merrill's cider mill, part of Merrill's Farm still operating in Londonderry, can be see to the left of the train's steam plume.
